Yoğun Bakım Ünitesinde Yatan Hastaların Yakınlarının Gereksinimleri ve Psikolojik Sıkıntı Düzeyleri

Abstract

Bu araştırma, yoğun bakım ünitesinde yatan hastaların yakınlarının gereksinimleri ve psikolojik sıkıntı düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı ve korelasyonel olarak yapıldı.
Çalışma örneklemini 118 katılımcı oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında Kişisel Tanıtıcı Form, Yoğun Bakım Ünitesindeki Hastaların Yakınları İçin Gereksinimler Ölçeği ve Psikolojik Sıkıntı Ölçeği kullanıldı. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler bağımsız örneklem t-testi, F-testi, Pearson korelasyon testi ve çoklu regresyon analiz testi kullanıldı.
Katılımcıların hasta yakını gereksinimler (123,33 ± 15,69) ve psikolojik sıkıntı puanlarının (34,02±7,06) yüksek, öncelikli gereksinimlerinin destek ve bilgi olduğu bulundu. Ayrıca katılımcıların hasta yakınları gereksinimleri puan ortalaması ile psikolojik sıkıntı puan puanları arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyli bir ilişki (r=0,494) saptandı. Katılımcıların yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, medeni durum ve birlikte yaşama durumunu ile hasta yakını gereksinimleri puanları ve psikolojik sıkıntı puanları arasında anlamlı bir fark (p<0.05) olduğu belirlendi.
Bu sonuçlar, yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan sağlık personelinin bu gereksinimleri karşılamaya yönelik planlamalar geliştirilmesinin, hasta yakınlarının psikolojik sıkıntısının azalmasına katkı sağlayabileceğini göstermiştir. Yoğun bakım ünitelerinde hasta bakımının yanı sıra hasta yakınlarının gereksinimleri ve psikolojik sıkıntıları belirlenmeli, belirlenen duruma ilişkin uygun strateji ve planlama yapılmalıdır.

Needs and Psychological Distress Levels of Relatives of Patients Inpatients in the Intensive Care Unit

Abstract

This research was carried out as a descriptive and correlational study to examine the relationship between the needs of the relatives of patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit and their levels of psychological distress.
The study sample consisted of 118 participants. Personal Descriptive Form, Needs Scale for Relatives of Patients in the Intensive Care Unit, and Psychological Distress Scale were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics independent sample t-test, F-test, Pearson correlation test and multiple regression analysis test were used in the analysis of the data.
It was found that the patients' relatives needs (123.33 ± 15.69) and psychological distress scores (34.02±7.06) were high, and their primary needs were support and information. In addition, a moderate positive correlation (r=0.494) was found between the participants' needs for relatives of patients and their psychological distress scores. It was determined that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the participants' age, gender, educational status, marital status and cohabitation status, and patient relatives needs scores and psychological distress scores.
These results showed that the development of plans to meet these needs of health personnel working in intensive care units can contribute to the reduction of psychological distress of patient relatives. In addition to patient care in intensive care units, the needs and psychological problems of patient relatives should be determined, and appropriate strategy and planning should be made for the determined situation.
