Abstract

How much they belong to society as a result of identity formation of individuals is closely related to their parents' behaviors and attitudes. Parenting plays a key role in healthy child rearing. Because the personality development of each individual is based on childhood. Parents' attitudes towards their children have important effects on the development of all areas of their children. Today, there are many parenting concepts such as democratic, authoritarian and permissive parental attitude. In addition to these concepts, the concept of helicopter parenting, a new concept in the literature, has emerged. The concept of helicopter parenting is a concept that not only affects the mother, father and the child instantly, but also affects every moment of the child's entire life. Although the expectations and intentions of the parents who exhibit this attitude are good, this attitude has been reported to have negative effects on children. The aim of this review is to define the concept of helicopter parenting, which is a new concept in the literature, to explain the characteristics of parents and the effects of this parenting on family and child health and the responsibilities of the nurse.
