Effectiveness Of Simulatıon Methods Used For Teaching Vaginal Examinatıon to Midwifery Students; Systematıc Rewiew

Year 2022, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 88 - 98, 28.01.2022

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different simulation methods used to teach vaginal examination to midwifery students.
Method: In this study, which is a systematic review, the searches were performed between October 10 and October 25, 2021 in Science Direct, Pubmed, Scopus, ClinicKey databases with the keywords "midwifery student, simulation, teaching, vaginal examination, training" in English, Tr Dizin, Turkey The citation index was scanned with the keywords "midwifery student, simulation, learning, vaginal examination, practice" in Google Scholar search engines.
Results: A total of 199 studies were reached from the databases in the systematic review. Within the scope of the research, 2 studies with 547 students were examined. It was determined that simulation supported skill training stations were used in one of the studies, and a low, medium and high-fidelity vaginal examination simulation model was used in the other. In both studies examined within the scope of the study, it was found that it was effective in learning the vaginal touch. In the study, in which a simulation-supported vaginal examination skill station was used, midwifery students emphasized that both their skills and their confidence levels in practice were positively effective. In the study conducted with high medium and low reality simulation models, it was found that high reality simulation was the most effective method for midwifery students to gain vaginal examination skills.
Conclusion: In this systematic review, it was concluded that the simulation methods used in the teaching of vaginal examination are effective in helping students gain vaginal examination skills and that more experimental studies on the subject should be done.

Ebelik Öğrencilerine Vajinal Tuşeyi Öğretmeye Yönelik Kullanılan Simülasyon Yöntemlerinin Etkinliği; Sistematik Derleme

Year 2022, Volume: 2 Issue: 1, 88 - 98, 28.01.2022
