Acil Servis Çalışanlarının Şiddet Maruziyeti ve İş Bırakma Niyetinin İncelenmesi: Tanımlayıcı ve Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

Öz

Bu araştırma, acil serviste çalışan sağlık profesyonellerinde şiddete maruziyetin iş bırakma niyetine etkisini belirlemek amacı ile yapılmıştır. Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki bu araştırma bir devlet hastanesinin acil servisinde çalışan 103 sağlık profesyoneli ile yürütülmüştür. Veriler, Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu ve İş Bırakma Niyet Ölçeği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Acil serviste çalışan sağlık profesyonellerinin son bir yıldaki şiddete maruziyet oranının %68 olduğu bulunmuş olup sağlık profesyonellerinin %100’nün sözel/psikolojik şiddete, %4.2’sinin fiziksel şiddete ve %1.4’ünün cinsel şiddete maruz kaldığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca sağlık profesyonellerine yönelik şiddetin en fazla hasta yakınları tarafından gerçekleştirildiği tespit edilmiştir. Şiddet sonrası sağlık profesyonellerinin %31.83’ünde emosyonel sorunlar, %21.97’sinde fizyolojik sorunlar, %34.52’sinde performans sorunları ve %11.65’inde ilişkisel sorunlar geliştiği saptanmıştır. Acil serviste çalışan sağlık profesyonellerinin İş Bırakma Niyet Ölçeği puan ortalaması 13.25±3.90 bulunmuş olup, şiddete maruziyet sonrası kurum yöneticilerinden destek gören sağlık profesyonellerindeki İş Bırakma Niyet Ölçeği puan ortalamasının daha düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0.05). Bu çalışmanın sonucunda, acil serviste çalışan sağlık profesyonellerinde şiddete maruziyet oranının yüksek olduğu ve sağlık profesyonellerinin en fazla sözel/psikolojik şiddete maruz kaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Acil serviste çalışan sağlık profesyonellerindeki iş bırakma niyetinin ise orta düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiş olup, sağlık profesyonellerindeki şiddete maruziyetin iş bırakma niyetini etkilemediği ancak şiddete maruziyet sonrası yönetici desteğinin iş bırakma niyetini azalttığı saptanmıştır.

The Effect of Exposure to Violence on Emergency Service Personnel's Intention to Quit Work: A Descriptive and Cross-Sectional Study

Öz

This study was conducted to determine the effect of exposure to violence on the intention to quit work in emergency service workers. This descriptive research was conducted with 103 healthcare professionals working in the emergency department of a public hospital. Data were collected using the Introductory Information Form and the Intention to Quit Job Scale. It was found that the rate of exposure to violence among healthcare workers in the last year was 68%, 100% of the workers were exposed to verbal/psychological, 4.2% to physical and 1.4% to sexual violence, and it was determined that the violence was mostly committed by the patient's relatives. It was determined that after violence, 31.83% of healthcare workers developed emotional problems, 21.97% physiological problems, 34.52% performance problems and 11.65% relational problems. The average score of the Intention to Quit Job Scale of emergency service employees was found to be 13.25±3.90, and it was determined that the average score of the Intention to Quit Job Scale was lower in employees who received support from the institution managers after the violence (p <0.05). As a result of this study, it was determined that exposure to violence was high among emergency service employees and that employees were mostly exposed to verbal/psychological violence. In addition, it was determined that the intention to quit among employees was at a medium level, violence did not affect the intention to quit, but manager support after violence reduced the intention to quit.
