Introduction and Purpose: The aim of this study was to adapt the Turkish version of the Patient-Centered Care Competence Scale (PCC-HMBY) developed by Jee-In Hwang (2015) and to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the scale. Materials and methods: For this purpose, scale expressions were first translated into Turkish by a faculty member specialized in the field of English language at a public university and then translated into English by another faculty member. The consistency between the scale expressions from translation to English and the original English language scale was examined and no significant loss of meaning was found between the two forms. With this scale, a pilot study was conducted on 50 groups of specialist nurses with professional experience and academic background in patient care and treatment services. As a result of the feedback obtained and the approval of the field experts, the form was finalized and the data was collected from 350 nurses working in an existing training and research hospital in Istanbul. Findings and result: Cronbach Alpha and Factor Analyzes were conducted to test the reliability and validity of the scale. The accuracy of the four-factor structure in the original version was tested. The internal consistency analysis was found to be sufficient for the sub-dimensions and the whole scale. These findings indicate that the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of HMBY are appropriate.
