Abstract

This study was conducted as a descriptive study to examine the relationship between nursing students' fear of COVID-19 and their attitudes towards learning. The sample consisted of 486 nursing students. Data were collected with the Individual Information Form, COVID-19 Fear Scale and Attitude Toward Learning Scale. Independent samples t test, F test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis tests were used to analyze the data. It was found that nursing students' COVID-19 fear levels (14.87±6.47) were below average and their attitude scores towards learning (146.65±11.20) were high. However, a relationship (r = 0.619) was detected between students' COVID-19 fear and attitude scores towards learning. A significant difference was found between nursing students' gender and thinking that their learning was affected by COVID-19 and fear of COVID-19. Additionally, a significant difference (p<0.05) was determined between gender, age, class, choosing the profession willingly and attitude towards learning. Nursing students' fear of COVID-19 is below average and their attitude scores towards learning are high. There is a negative relationship between fear of COVID-19 and attitude towards learning. Nursing education should include strategies and programs that reduce students' fear of COVID-19 and improve their learning attitudes.
